The fact that the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) recently joined the Confederation of International Contractors’ Association (CICA) is a signal of the Kingdom’s intent. At CICA’s annual conference in Paris last month, SCA chairman Mohammed Alajlan outlined the Saudi Arabia’s ambition, as Vision 2030 reshapes both its built environment and its economy. With trillions of dollars of work under way and major schemes such as Neom, Qiddiya and Diriyah advancing, the SCA is positioning itself as a conduit for global collaboration, standardised contracting and knowledge transfer. What does this openness mean for overseas contractors, and how is Saudi Arabia adapting its systems, technology and industry capacity to deliver megaprojects at speed?
